Drink more tea!
Tea is a great way to keep cravings at bay and make you feel fuller. They taste great and most are zero calories! Add some Stevia if you are craving something sweet! Also, some teas (like green and black tea) can actually speed up your metabolism =)

Eating clean is basically eating as close to nature as possible. So the less processing and additives a food has, the “cleaner” it is. Simple right?
Avoid processed goods whenever possible such as cookies, candy, chips, crackers, white bread, frozen dinners, packaged junk. Make your OWN cookies, candy, “chips”, and dinners. That way, you control what goes into them! There are plenty of healthy alternatives to all of these foods that you can make yourself. =)
www.cleaneatingmag.com has some great clean recipes if you are interested in helping yourself or your family lead a clean eating lifestyle.

Eating too low calorie for a long period of time can cause our bodies to go into “survival” mode and cling to stored fat.. which can halt or slow fat-loss goals.
Our metabolism slows considerably to compensate for the lack of nutrition. One way to break through a plateau like this is to use carb/calorie cycling. By cycling calories (low, medium and high days), it keeps our bodies guessing! Try not to drop calories too drastically (there is NO NEED to starve in order to lose weight)!

My tips for surviving Superbowl Sunday temptation!
I should preface this by saying, it’s ok to splurge now and then! If it’s been awhile since you’ve relaxed and let yourself have a treat, then go for it! If you keep your cheat in moderation, you will not have to worry about it wrecking your progress!!! Craving pizza? Have a slice! Want some wings? Have a couple! Just don’t overdo it!However, if you are truly more interested in sticking to your plan, rather than indulging… here is what I personally recommend!
LOAD UP on the veggies!!! A lot of people who hold Superbowl parties have veggies and dip that go virtually untouched until the wings and pizza are long gone.  Take advantage of that by loading your plate with them! They will keep your hands and mouth busy =)
Avoid the chips, creamy dips, dressings and sauces.. they’re empty calories full of unhealthy fats and sugar! Choose salsa instead!
Want a burger? Go bunless! Have a small patty (or split one with a friend) and add tomatoes, onions and lettuce (mustard is fine too, avoid ketchup as it’s full of sugar)! If the lettuce is big enough, you can turn it into a make-shift wrap!
SKIP THE ALCOHOL AND SODA!!! Drink lots of water! If lemon or other fruit is available, this can make for great flavoring! Get creative =)
Like I said, everything in moderation! It’s not the end of the world if you have a chip or if you take some bites of pizza. Get back on track Monday and leave game day behind you. =)

When you wake up, your fuel tank is empty and your blood sugar is at its lowest for the day. You need breakfast to get your engine going — it raises your blood sugar and ramps up your metabolism to energize your body. A carb-protein combo such as a bowl of oatmeal and some eggs is the perfect way to jump start your day!

Motor Up Your Metabolism - Eat Spices
That overwhelming internal heat we feel from eating spicy food may actually be working in favour of our figures. Chili, cinnamon, turmeric and other spices temporarily spike metabolism by around 23 per cent, heating up our body temperature and heart rate.

  • No Time For Excuses: How I Lost 50 Pounds

    no-time-4-excuses:

There is no secret to losing weight. I know it seems hard to most people, but that’s because they make it hard for themselves or they lack the will to do what needs to be done to start and keep a healthy lifestyle.

I’ve lost fifty pounds so far. I didn’t pay for Weight Watchers, I didn’t hire a…

  • One of the unhealthy things that I need to change is how I prepare my coffee. I need my coffee so giving it up in the morning is a definite no! BUT, usually I dump a ton of flavored creamer in my cup. Right now, just to start, I’m going to only use one serving (4tsp cal60 fat 3g). So to help, I’m rubberbanding an extra 1tsp spoon to the container. Now I don’t have a reason to be lazy and dump a bunch in my cup. I know it’s not the healthiest option. Once we move I’m going to buy some truvia and almond milk. Any other suggestions on what to put in coffee?

UPDATE: Okay, maybe one serving was too drastic. Going to use 2 servings. Still about half what I would usually dump in, but probably still less than that.

A basic guide to eating at restaurants. Don’t be fooled by the lingo! Just because it sounds healthy, doesn’t mean it is. I don’t know about other states, but in California by law, restaurants now have to provide a nutrition facts menu. In fact, on most menus, they put the calories right next to the food!! Definitely a good deterrent for eating out lol. But the nutrition facts menu will typically tell you how much sodium/sugar/saturated fat and other macro and micro nutrients are in the food they provide.
Yet another reason to learn how to read a nutrition facts label girlies! <3
